Judson High School places 3rd overall at the Texas High School Mock Trial Regionals
Before this year, Judson High School never sent a team to the Texas High School Mock Trial Regionals in San Antonio even though these events have been going on across the state for decades. But a member team from Judson made a big impact in the Region 20 competition placing 3rd in the overall event. The team consisting of Jake Fricke, Samantha Gonzalez, Alyssa Martinez, Nadia Oviedo De La Selva and Tatiana Huizer benefitted from the gracious donation of time and facility of the St. Mary's Law School Moot courtroom as well as expert coaching by attorneys Boggs-Perez and Bruce Luckett. They were also given the privilege of arguing their cases before Bexar County Judge David Canales for further honing of their skills.
In the end, after traveling weekly to the St. Mary's University Moot Courtroom for six months and practicing their skills, they showed how their hard work paid off. They also experienced some valuable team work lessons. It was a great experience for everyone. Their sponsors and instructors are Mr. Aaron Williams and Mr. Jesus Acosta.
