Dear Parents, This week in Literary Genres we continued our next and final unit, the 1920s and The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Students presented to the class on their chosen topic from the 1920s; students did an awesome job, and we learned an incredible amount of information about prohibition, organized crime, Chicago and New York, the flappers, fashion and hairstyles, the economy, famous inventions and jazz music. Students then learned about Fitzgerald, completed an anticipation guide, and began vocabulary for chapter one. The first reading quiz was Friday, April 5th. The next reading assignment is chapter 2, which is due next Friday the 12th. Next week we will begin discussions of characters and setting from chapter one, continue to work with vocabulary, and continue reading and annotating the next chapter. As always, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Julie K. D’Amico
