My Home Page
My teaching philosophy includes my desire to see children become lifelong learners, good problem solvers and critical thinkers and good human beings. I want to see children develop a love of learning because I know it to be one of the avenues for a richer, more fulfilling life. I believe that we can not only become more successful through education economically and socially, but that we are also able to be happier, healthier and more satisfied people, more interested and involved in the world we live in and tolerant of others, through education. I think that learning good problem solving skills and to have good critical thinking skills is necessary no matter what my students chose to do with their lives. Students can apply strong problem solving and critical thinking skills to any academic discipline and eventually career. They will be able to apply these skills to new information as it is presented to them over the years and they will know how to proceed with confidence. Without teaching students to become good human beings, all the information I can give them would never do much good. I hope to shadow what my students' parents are saying at home; be honest, kind and hard working and only good things can follow. It is my rule to never discuss politics or religion in my classroom, which is the role of parents and families. I do, however, believe that by setting a good example for my students, by being understanding, patient, an honest teacher and by allowing people room to grow, they can learn positive personal skills while in my classroom. We are together quite a lot this year! I am very excited to be working with my 4th graders this year. I am so proud of how bright and cool they are!
